Richard gained a BA (hons) in Art history and theology alongside his degree was also working as a tailor apprentice after which, moved to Ibiza to perform for 3 years in hotels. After returning to the UK, he gained Post Grad in costume Design and management. Setting up his own company making Bridal Gowns and drag costumes.
Whilst working as a period Costume Tailor for several years, made the move into Dyeing and breaking down with a residency at Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester and working freelance on several west end show (Priscilla Queen of the Desert/La Cage Aux Folles/Christmas Carol/Cymbeline) Film: (Pirates of the Caribbean/dead man’s card/harry potter/51st state).
Moving to London, took the position of Head of Costume for National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, for 5 years, while working on selected costume design projects in dance for Sharon Watson, Darshan Singh Buller, Christopher Hampson, Christopher Marney and Stacey Haynes. Richard was Resident Costume Designer for Ballet Central for 6 years.
