    Shannon Ryan is thrilled to join the ABC13 team!

    Ryan spent the last four years at FOX 7 Austin working as a crime, courts and investigative reporter. She extensively covered Austin's reimagining public safety initiative, housing crisis, public corruption, legal system and violent crime. Ryan traveled to cover extreme weather and news on the border as part of FOX's O&O group. She started her career in Washington, D.C. working as an anchor, producer and multimedia journalist for DC News Now (DCW)

    Ryan has worked as a television, print and photojournalist with bylines in the New York Times, ESPN, Associated Press and Washington Post.

    Ryan is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University. She earned degrees in broadcast journalism and political science. As a student, she interned for CBS News covering the presidential election from their Washington, D.C. bureau. She also covered the Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro for the Associated Press through the Curley Center for Sports Journalism. Her work highlighting poor conditions for those living with disabilities in the city placed in the Hearst Multimedia News II Competition.     Ryan Patrick Shannon[1] (born March 2, ) is an American former professional ice hockey player, who played in the National Hockey League (NHL). He is currently serving as the head coach of the boys varsity ice hockey team at the Taft School.

    Shannon was raised in Darien, Connecticut, and he played youth hockey with the Darien Youth Hockey Association (DYHA).[citation needed] He played in the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the Connecticut Yankees minor ice hockey team.[2]

    After four years of high school hockey at The Taft School in Watertown, Connecticut, Shannon began college hockey with Boston College in – In his freshman year, he received the team's Bernie Burke Award as top rookie after recording 25 points in 38 games. In his senior year, Boston captured the Hockey East championship (The Lamoriello Trophy) and Shannon was named to the Hockey East All-Conference First Team and the All-American East Second Team for the second consecutive season. Scoring 45 points, he earned team MVP honors with two other teammates.[3] Internationally, Shannon represented the U.S. at the World Junior Championships in his soph
